The international community celebrates International Day of Charity on September 5, 2026, to honor Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

The United Nations declared September 5 as the annual International Day of Charity in 2012 to recognize Mother Teresa's life of service and her witness to the Gospel. Mother Teresa was born on August 26, 1910, and died on September 5, 1997. Pope Francis declared her a saint on September 4, 2016.
