Kaplan Daniel Baldus will leave the priesthood in the Diocese of Essen on September 14, 2026. Baldus requested to leave his priestly ministry from Bishop Franz-Josef Overbeck for personal reasons.

He plans to return to his former profession as a nurse later this month. Baldus has served as a chaplain since his ordination in August 2020, first at St. Franziskus parish in Bochum and most recently at Liebfrauen parish in Duisburg since August 2023. Bishop Overbeck thanked Baldus for his dedicated service in both Bochum and Duisburg and offered him blessings for his future.
