Father Christoph Urbanus Wichmann left the Diocese of Essen after making his final profession in the Dominican Order on Saturday, September 12, 2026. His profession officially incardinated him into the Province of St. Albert in Germany and Austria.

Bishop Franz-Josef Overbeck expressed gratitude for Wichmann's years of service within the diocese. Wichmann previously served as a chaplain in Essen, a youth minister in Gelsenkirchen, and a school chaplain in Essen. He also served as a pastor and provost in Oberhausen. The bishop offered his blessings for Wichmann's new path as a Dominican priest.
