Nepal holds national mourning day

Nepal held a national day of mourning on September 7, 2026, to remember those killed in a catastrophic flood on August 26.

The Catholic community in Nepal joined the national remembrance by praying for the victims and participating in relief efforts. Search and rescue operations are ongoing following the disaster. According to Vatican News, authorities have recovered more than 1,300 bodies, while approximately 5,000 people remain missing.
