St. Vincent New Beginnings opens home for formerly incarcerated men

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

St. Vincent New Beginnings has opened a renovated four-bedroom home to provide stability for men newly released from the Delaware County jail. The facility, which has been operating since April following six years of preparation, can house up to four residents at a time.

The home is managed by the St. Vincent de Paul societies of two Delaware County parishes. Volunteers, case workers, mentors, and advocates staff the residence 24 hours a day to assist men during their transition. Residents can stay at the home for up to two years.

Chuck Bulick, director of St. Vincent New Beginnings, stated that the ministry aims to help men achieve self-sufficiency, including permanent housing and steady income, to prevent them from returning to jail. Jail staff and Southeast Healthcare refer men to the home. The organization was formed in 2020 through representatives of the St. Vincent de Paul societies and prison ministry.
