Theologian Thomas Söding has called on churches to take a unifying role in Europe.

In a guest article published online Monday for the Herder Korrespondenz, Söding argued that the Church must mediate between unity and diversity. He stated that without this mediation, the continent and the Church will be torn apart. Söding noted that unity and diversity are more closely related in Europe than in almost any other place in the world.
