Diocese of Cuenca launches Child Equilibrist program

The Family Guidance Center of the Diocese of Cuenca has launched the Niño Equilibrista (Child Equilibrist) program to support children of separated and divorced parents. This program, which is a first of its kind in Spain, uses a mutual support group model to provide care for children navigating family changes.

Marta Guillén Tena, director of the Family Guidance Center, said the program's name refers to the balancing of loyalties children face when parents separate or engage in legal disputes. She explained that the program helps children feel heard and acknowledges their pain so they understand they can love both parents equally. The initiative also aims to reassure children that their parents will remain their parents regardless of the separation.
