NOTA OFICIAL: Padres da Diocese de Guaxupé sofrem grave acidente na estrada entre Cajuru e Mococa

Two priests from the Diocese of Guaxupé died or were seriously injured in a car accident on the road between Cajuru and Mococa on Friday, September 18, 2026.

The Diocese of Guaxupé confirmed that Father Guaraciba Lopes de Oliveira Junior died in the crash. Father Francisco dos Santos, the parochial vicar of the São Domingos Parish in Poços de Caldas, remains hospitalized in serious condition. Father Guaraciba served as the parish priest at the same location.

The diocese expressed its grief and requested prayers for the recovery of Father Francisco and for the family of Father Guaraciba. Official channels will release further updates as they become available.
