Obispo de Getafe pone fin a los Hermanos del Amor Misericordioso tras disolución de la rama femenina

Bishop Ginés García Beltrán of Getafe has ended the community formation for the men seeking to establish the Brothers of Merciful Love as a religious family. This decision follows more than a year of canonical scrutiny regarding the movement's female branch, which has been dissolved.

The move affects seven priests, two deacons, and approximately 20 seminarians. Among the priests, five are incardinated in the Diocese of Getafe and two are there temporarily through agreements with their own bishops. The group previously lived together in a canonically established formation house, which will now be dissolved.

Bishop García Beltrán stated that the decision does not declare the men acted improperly or that their desire for religious life was illegitimate. Instead, the diocese is moving each individual into a personal process of vocational discernment. Priests and deacons currently in ministry will continue their pastoral assignments while they decide their future. Seminarians may remain in diocesan seminaries or enter established religious institutes or other recognized forms of consecrated life.
