October is Respect Life Month

The Diocese of Grand Rapids is observing Respect Life Month throughout October, focusing on the theme of Mary, Mother of Life. The month includes Respect Life Sunday on Oct. 4 and a Respect Life Novena scheduled from Oct. 22 to Oct. 30.

Bishop Walkowiak issued a letter to parishioners regarding the call to protect human life from conception to natural death. The diocese offers several opportunities for prayer and support, including involvement with Walking with Moms and Families in Need, which provides services such as pregnancy support, baby pantries, and counseling for infertility or healing after abortion.

The Cathedral of Saint Andrew will host a Mass for God’s Children on Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. The diocesan Respect Life office invites parents who have lost a child before baptism to attend this Mass. Additionally, parishioners can participate in Vigil Hours for 40 Days for Life through Nov. 1.
