October is Respect Life Month

The Diocese of Grand Rapids is observing Respect Life Month throughout October, focusing on the theme of Mary, Mother of Life. The month includes Respect Life Sunday on October 4, a day dedicated to reflecting on the dignity of human life from conception to natural death.

Bishop Walkowiak issued a letter to parishioners regarding the importance of protecting vulnerable people. The diocese has scheduled several prayer and service opportunities, including a Respect Life Novena from October 22 to October 30. Local supporters can also participate in Vigil Hours for 40 Days for Life, which runs from September 23 through November 1.

The diocesan Respect Life office is hosting a Mass for God’s Children at 7 p.m. on November 9 at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew. This Mass is intended for parents who have lost a child before baptism, though all are welcome to attend. Additionally, the diocese offers support through Walking with Moms and Families in Need, which provides services such as pregnancy support, counseling, and assistance with baby and toddler pantries.
