Oise : l’épicerie solidaire itinérante de l’Ordre de Malte France

The Order of Malta France is operating a mobile solidarity grocery store in the Oise department to help people facing financial hardship. Volunteers travel to rural areas to deliver food and hygiene products to isolated elderly people and single-parent families who struggle to travel.

The service distributes items such as fresh fruit, vegetables, and dairy products, which are mostly received from the Banque Alimentaire. In Oise, the household poverty rate was 14.5% in 2023.

Supported by public authorities, the Picardy branch of the Order of Malta uses the grocery store to create opportunities for social connection and conversation. The service reaches vulnerable residents in areas where new needs for food security have emerged.
