On Miscarriage: Your faith spoke for this child

Fr. Rob Waller shared reflections on the pain of miscarriage and the importance of remembering children lost before birth. He noted that many mothers suffer in silence following a miscarriage, often without the comfort of a funeral or a dedicated burial place.

The parish holds a Memorial Mass in November to honor those buried in the church over the past year. During this service, the community lights an extra candle specifically for miscarried children and for their mothers. Waller observed that the trauma of a hospital emergency or the heartbreak of losing a child at home can prevent parents from seeking what remains of their child, sometimes leading to later feelings of guilt. He suggested that while words cannot remove the pain, faith and time can help lessen it.
