Our Lady of the Rosary celebrates 80 years
Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Lexington celebrated its 80th anniversary on Oct. 7 during a feast day celebration for its patroness. The event included a Holy Hour, the Rosary, Mass, a procession, and a reception. More than 200 parishioners attended the festivities, which included guests from the Eritrean Catholic Community of Charlotte.
Parochial Administrator Father Huver Navarro presided over the Mass with Ge'ez Rite priest Father Michael Debesay serving as concelebrant. During the liturgy, the community blessed a new tabernacle funded by parishioner donations and money raised by the Lady’s Guild.
In his homily, Father Navarro discussed the parish history, noting it was founded in 1946 by 15 families. He encouraged the congregation to maintain spiritual renewal through daily prayer of the Rosary.
