Parishes mark Catechetical Sunday with focus on formation and mission

St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Farmingdale blessed parents and catechists on Sept. 20 to mark Catechetical Sunday. The parish currently enrolls more than 280 children in its religious education program.

The program is supported by 32 catechists and offers four different weekly session times to accommodate family schedules. To assist with faith formation, the parish has expanded its facilities to include a dedicated faith formation room, a Marian prayer room for children, an art room, and an outdoor playground.

Pastoral Associate Laura Randazzo said the parish also hosts sessions for parents to help them learn how to live as Catholic families. Father Angelito I. Anarcon, the pastor, started the Catechetical Sunday blessing tradition 15 years ago.
