Paróquia São Francisco de Assis celebrates 800 years of the death of its patron saint

Saint Francis of Assis Parish in Rio Comprido is holding celebrations to mark the 800th anniversary of the death of its patron saint. The parish has been led by the Frades Menores Conventuais for 80 years and is participating in the 2026 Franciscan jubilee year.

Pope Leo XIV granted plenary indulgences to all conventual churches or those assisted by Franciscan orders and congregations. These indulgences are also available to anyone who pilgrimages to or visits these churches and oratories.
