Pastoral Penitenciaria y Cáritas lanzan por primera vez la campaña conjunta «El pasado no condena el futuro»

The Prison Ministry and Cáritas have launched a joint campaign titled "The Past Does Not Condemn the Future" to address the social stigma and stereotypes faced by people after they leave prison. The campaign, presented on September 21, uses a phrase spoken by Leo XIV during a recent visit to the Brians prison center in Barcelona.

The campaign coincides with the feast of Our Lady of Mercy. On September 24, Archbishop Mario Iceta of Burgos will celebrate Mass and meet with inmates. On September 23, missionary Antonio Maeso will present the Movistar documentary *Las Sombras del Miedo*, which examines the prison system in Ecuador, followed by a discussion with inmates.

Vicar General Carlos Izquierdo thanked donors who supported the Prison Ministry and the Cáritas "Start Again" program this year. He specifically recognized Fundación Círculo Burgos, Fundación Caixabank, and Ureta Motor for their ongoing commitment to supporting people in these processes.
