Patriarch Francesco Moraglia sends message to journalism and AI conference

Patriarch Francesco Moraglia sent a message to a conference in Venice addressing the relationship between journalism and artificial intelligence. The event, organized by Iusve and Avvenire as part of the media literacy project "Ci sto!", took place at the Generali Human Safety Net headquarters.

In a message read by Marco Zane, Moraglia stated that media outlets play a unique role in building a climate of healthy coexistence and communion. He noted that the use of various tools and platforms is never neutral.

The conference included speakers such as Andrea Buoso, president of the regional journalists' order for Veneto, who described the journalist's role as essential to democracy by informing citizens. Buoso suggested that AI could either lead to a state of confusion or help rebuild stability, depending on how people use it. Project coordinator Gigio Rancilio added that there will be an increasing need for human journalists to maintain trust.
