The Vatican has not responded to a request for a papal audience from the organizers of the Ad Petri Sedem traditional pilgrimage. Despite the request being submitted nine months ago, the Vatican declined the group's request for a pontifical Mass in St. Peter's Basilica and has not announced a meeting with Pope Leo XIV.

The organizers, a group composed mainly of laypeople, submitted their request via a letter signed by two members. Bishop Athanasius Schneider personally delivered the letter to the Pope during a meeting in the Vatican last December. The pilgrimage is scheduled to take place from October 23 to 25.
