Piarists celebrate 250 years in Kolozsvár
Piarists celebrated 250 years of presence in Kolozsvár with a thanksgiving Mass at the Szentháromság-templom on October 15. The liturgy marked the anniversary of the order's arrival in the city and its history of education and faith transmission.
Bishop Jenő Schönberger, the official representative of the Piarist Order in Romania, led the celebration. Viktor Zsódi, the Piarist provincial for Hungary, delivered the homily. Géza Böszörményi, a Piarist monk serving in Kolozsvár, welcomed attendees, including Erik Urbán, Zsódi Viktor, and Attila László. The gathering also included representatives from Protestant and Romanian communities, students, and educators.
During the Mass, Bishop Schönberger spoke about the historical challenges the order faced and the hope for new beginnings. He noted the Piarist mission to support children in their faith. The celebration included music from the Kolozsvár Szent Cecília choir and the Gróf Majláth Gusztáv Károly Római Katolikus Teológiai Líceum choir of Gyulafehérvár.
