Pilgrims complete six-stage journey to St Andrews
Pilgrims from the Archdiocese of Saint Andrews and Edinburgh and the Diocese of Paisley completed a six-stage walk along the Fife Pilgrim Way, arriving in St Andrews for a Vigil Mass at St James’ Church.
The journey began in Culross and took place over six Saturdays. Participants walked through Fife, ending each stage at a church for prayer. The group included parishioners from St Mary’s Cathedral, St Andrew’s Ravelston, Sacred Heart Lauriston, and Most Holy Trinity in south-west Fife, as well as walkers from St John the Evangelist in Barrhead.
The route was adapted so that each day's walk concluded at a church to allow for private prayer. While some participants completed the full route, others joined for individual stages. Organizer Deacon Pat Carrigan thanked the parish volunteers who provided hospitality and opened churches for the walkers. Rev. Simon Hessett, the Fife Pilgrim Way pastor, joined the group for the final stage from Ceres to St Andrews.
