Pontifical Missionary Union Official to Join One Million Children Praying the Rosary in Malawi Visit

Fr. Dinh Anh Nhue Nguyen, the Secretary General of the Pontifical Missionary Union, will visit Malawi from September 30 to October 11 to mark the centenary of World Mission Sunday and open World Mission Month. According to the Pontifical Mission Societies in Malawi, Fr. Nguyen will represent the Holy Father through the Pontifical Mission Societies office in Rome.

During the visit, Fr. Nguyen will join the Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood in Malawi for a Rosary for peace and unity involving one million children. He will also participate in a celebration of the Eucharist at Salima Parish.

The visit includes a formation program for priests, religious, pastoral workers, lay faithful, and young people. This program will cover the 2026 World Mission Sunday message and the centenary of the event to encourage missionary commitment and cooperation with the universal Church. The sessions aim to help participants reflect on their responsibility to proclaim the Gospel both in Malawi and abroad.
