Pope Leo XIV gives Angelus address

Pope Leo XIV told the faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square during his Angelus address on Sunday that God's plans exceed human understanding. Speaking at noon, the Pope noted that God's intentions are more human than the plans conceived by people marked by sin.

The Pope referenced the Prophet Isaiah to explain that God's ways and thoughts differ from those of humanity. He stated that the prophet's call for people to abandon flawed ways and return to a God of mercy and forgiveness is especially relevant today.

Reflecting on the Gospel parable of the laborers in the vineyard, Pope Leo XIV observed that while the story reveals the generosity of God, it also shows the resistance people often offer to divine justice and love. He pointed out that the landowner paid the workers hired at the end of the day the same amount as those who worked all day. The Pope noted that the landowner specifically ordered the steward to pay the workers starting with the last and ending with the first.
