Pope Leo XIV defended his decision to speak about the right to life during a press conference on his flight from France to Rome. Responding to a French reporter, the Pope stated that his comments were intended to teach Church beliefs rather than to involve himself in French politics.

The Pope explained that his primary purpose for visiting France was to preach the Gospel and reaffirm the truths offered by Jesus Christ. He noted that the Church holds a deep belief in defending life and seeks to remain close to the sick and disabled to affirm the value of life for everyone. During the press conference, the Pope also addressed questions regarding artificial intelligence, the war in Ukraine, the housing crisis, and sexual abuse.
