Pope Leo XIV addresses Centro de Estudios Internacional Pope Leo XIV

Pope Leo XIV met with members of the Centro de Estudios Internacional Pope Leo XIV at the Apostolic Palace on Friday, September 18, 2026. The center is an initiative of the Order of San Agustín to encourage reflection and critical thinking based on the social teaching of the Church.

During his address, the Pope said the center should focus on training for public and political life. He described this as service to the common good, responsibility toward the community, and the building of relationships based on solidarity, justice, and peace.

The Pope encouraged cooperation between the baptized and the Magisterium, citizens and experts, and people and institutions. He also urged those present to fight against distrust and resignation. The center intends to dialogue with universities, academic institutions, public bodies, civil society organizations, Church realities, and associative networks.
