Pope Leo XIV addresses the Communio Internationalis Benedictinarum Symposium

Pope Leo XIV addressed representatives of the global monastic community during the Communio Internationalis Benedictinarum Symposium on September 12, 2026. The gathering brought together members of the Benedictine monastic world from various parts of the world.

In his address, the Pope noted that the group has spent twenty-five years continuing a path of communion and coordination for the Benedictine Confederation. He mentioned that this work was originally promoted by Pope Leo XIII and later encouraged by the Second Vatican Council in the decree Perfectae Caritatis.

The Pope also sent his thoughts to the Abbot Primate, who could not attend due to responsibilities related to his primatial office.
