Pope Leo XIV inspires 29 seminarians

Pope Leo XIV's writings and recent messages to Spain are guiding 29 seminarians at the Seminary of Vitoria during a week of spiritual exercises. Bishop Juan Carlos Elizalde is leading the retreat, which runs until Sunday, September 20.

The seminarians are using the book Despertar a la vida diferente by Jesuit priest Ignacio Huarte to structure their daily prayer, silence, and Gospel meditation. They are also reflecting on texts from Pope Leo XIV and messages the Pope shared during his first visit to Spain in June.

Following the retreat, the students will begin classes on Monday, September 28. Enrollment remains open until Friday, September 25, which serves as the official opening of the new academic year. Francesc Torralba will deliver a lecture for the opening at 12:00 p.m. in the Aula Magna.
