Pope Leo XIV Reveals the Key to Demonstrating Holiness

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV stated that the process for sainthood uses historical study tools to highlight the spirituality, exemplary character, and reputation for holiness of candidates.

According to Rome Reports, the Church must determine a candidate's life and legacy through a lengthy research process. Dioceses collect writings, documents, and testimonies from those who knew the individual before sending the file to Rome to reconstruct their life story.

The process involves theology experts and medical specialists when a potential miraculous healing is reported. Pope Leo XIV noted that while the goal is not to produce formal history, the process serves to bring the character of candidates to light.
