Pope Leo XIV sends greetings to Rome Jewish community for new year observances

Pope Leo XIV sent a telegram to Chief Rabbi Riccardo Di Segni to wish the Jewish community in Rome well for their upcoming religious holidays. In the message, the pope expressed his hope that the celebrations would bring blessings and joy to the community.

The greetings cover Rosh Hashanah, which began on the evening of Sept. 11, as well as Yom Kippur on Sept. 20 and Sukkot on Sept. 25. The pope expressed wishes for renewal during Rosh Hashanah, peace during the silence of Yom Kippur, and fellowship during the feast of Sukkot.

The pontiff concluded his message by asking for growth in mutual friendship between the Church and the Jewish community in Rome and across the world.
