Pope to pilgrims in Lourdes: You will leave as missionaries of hope

Pope Leo XIV told pilgrims gathered at the grotto in Lourdes that they should carry the consolation of the site back to their neighbors, families, and the French people. Addressing travelers from France and around the world, the pope said the pilgrimage should rekindle faith within their homes and parishes.

During his homily, the pope spoke about the necessity of conversion based on the message the Virgin Mary entrusted to Saint Bernadette. He noted that the Gospel and the prophet Ezekiel both emphasize the urgency of repentance, stating that the call to turn toward God must happen today rather than tomorrow.
