Prominent U.S. priest restricted from ministry

The Diocese of Fall River has restricted Monsignor Roger Landry from public ministry following allegations of misconduct made by multiple individuals. The diocese stated that the allegations do not involve minors but instead involve violations of the codes of conduct for priests in both the Diocese of Fall River and the Archdiocese of New York.

The decision follows an initial investigation by the Archdiocese of New York, where Landry's ministry is based. After consulting with the archdiocese and canonical advisors, the Diocese of Fall River determined there is sufficient evidence to restrict his public ministry while the matter is being resolved.

Landry, 55, serves as the national director of the Pontifical Missions Societies, a role he began in 2024. A priest of the Diocese of Fall River ordained in 1999, he previously spent seven years as an attaché to the Holy See’s Permanent Observer Mission to the United Nations in New York.
