PRZEMYŚL: Obchody 87. rocz. napaści Sowieckiej na Polskę i Dnia Sybiraka

The Diocese of Przemyśl held a Mass at the church of oo. Karmelitów in Przemyśl to mark the 87th anniversary of the Soviet attack on Poland and Sybirak Day. Archbishop Adam Szal led the liturgy and called for prayers for peace and justice in Poland and the modern world.

During the homily, priest Władysław Kozicki, chaplain of the Związek Sybiraków Oddział w Przemyślu, spoke about the events of September 17, 1939, when the Soviet army crossed the border of the Republic. Kozicki noted that the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact resulted in mass arrests, deportations, and crimes in Katyn, Miednoje, and Charków. He stated that the purpose of the gathering was to remember and pray for the victims rather than to foster anger or hatred. Kozicki added that truth is a condition for freedom and that remembering the victims is a duty of conscience.
