Public support needed for elderly amid cost of living crisis, Catholic Grandparents Association

The Catholic Grandparents Association is calling for increased public support for older people as rising living costs impact their well-being.

Catherine Wiley, CEO of the Catholic Grandparents Association, told The Irish Catholic that family love is not a substitute for adequate public assistance. She noted that while public support cannot replace the presence and responsibility of a family, both are necessary to support the elderly. Wiley's comments follow a survey released by ALONE regarding how the cost of living crisis affects older populations.
