PVI senior spends summer installing solar panels in Puerto Rico

Annalise Forgash, a senior at Paul VI High School in Haddonfield, spent a week this summer installing solar panels in Puerto Rico. Working as an intern with the nonprofit Let’s Share the Sun Foundation, Forgash joined a professional crew to help provide renewable energy to residents.

Forgash participated in the project through her father, John Forgash, a solar power engineer. She noted that the trip allowed her to feel closer to her Latin American heritage and offered her first experience on a mission trip. As the only high school student in the group, she worked alongside professionals to drill holes into concrete roofs, set brackets, and lift panels into place.

The installation work took place in the remote mountain village of Adjuntas. During the project, Forgash and the crew spent time with homeowners, including a single mother named Maria, to hear their stories while completing the technical work.
