Quo vadis, Ecclesia?

Cardinal Luis Tagle, pro-prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, delivered the homily for the beatification of Fulton J. Sheen on Sept. 24, 2026. The ceremony took place at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis before a large crowd that included many children, young adults, and multigenerational families.

The beatification follows a cause for Sheen that opened in 2002. Although previous decisions within the Church hierarchy nearly prevented the process from moving forward on several occasions, the event concluded with a large gathering in St. Louis.
