reCHARGE event fosters faith, reflection and companionship

24 men gathered in New Norcia from August 28 to 30 for the third menALIVE reCHARGE weekend to reflect on their faith and personal lives. The event used the Benedictine tradition of prayer and hospitality at New Norcia to provide a setting for participants to listen for God's call.

Participants joined the monastic community for Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours, and had time for personal prayer and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Sessions facilitated by menALIVE encouraged the men to share their stories and discuss faith, struggle, and hope in small groups.

During a Saturday evening ritual, participants placed items into a fire to represent things they wished to surrender to God and commitments they wanted to make. David Brockett, from St Joseph’s Subiaco Parish, described the fire ritual as a significant moment for the group.
