Remain attached to Christ, the true vine: Mount Lawley parish celebrates 70 years of community

Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB led a Mass at St Paul’s Church in Mount Lawley on Sunday, September 20, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the parish. During the liturgy, the Archbishop encouraged the congregation to look back with gratitude and look forward with prayer for the future.

The Archbishop recognized former priests Tim Deeter, Greg Donovan, and Mariusz Grzech for their long and faithful service to the parish. Father Tim Deeter, who joined the Mass as a concelebrant, noted that the community began gathering for Mass 97 years ago at Learoyd Street School, roughly 27 years before the parish was formally established.

In his homily, Father Deeter urged the community to stay connected to Christ and to maintain a strong sense of community. He stated that modeling unity provides security for young people in their own faith.
