Resignations and Appointments

Pope Francis has appointed Reverend Sílvio Pereira Castro as auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of São Miguel Paulista in Brazil. The appointment assigns him the titular see of Mauriana.

Father Castro, who was born in 1968 in the diocese of Umuarama, previously served as the rector of the São Miguel Paulista Diocesan Seminary. His previous roles in the diocese include serving as diocesan bursar from 2012 to 2025, director of the Virgem do Pilar Diocesan School, and vicar of the Cathedral of São Miguel Arcanjo. He has also worked as a parish vicar and head of the São Benedito Pastoral Area since 2013.
