Riparte l’anno catechistico, la parola d’ordine è «flessibilità pastorale»

The Diocese of San Miniato is resuming its catechetical year for children and youth with a focus on pastoral flexibility, according to Father Udoji Onyekweli, director of the diocesan service for catechesis. Father Onyekweli noted that the service is working to move toward a more experiential form of catechesis through various group experiments.

Father Onyekweli, who works alongside secretary Monica Martini and parish catechesis coordinators, said the atmosphere of the new year varies by group. He reported that new families often show enthusiasm and curiosity, while established families frequently worry about balancing religious schedules with school, sports, and other activities. While children generally approach the programs with curiosity, catechists often feel a mix of hope and concern regarding meeting family expectations and managing new group dynamics.
