Ruben Vardanyan issued a public appeal from the Umbaki prison complex to Sabina Aliyeva, calling for the respect of prisoner rights. Detained with 18 other Armenians, Vardanyan cited the penal execution code of the Republic of Azerbaijan and a booklet on prisoner rights provided by Aliyeva's office. He stated that these rights must be upheld regardless of ethnic origin or the crime charged.

In Armenia, the trial against Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, and six bishops has resumed in Etchmiadzin. The group faces accusations of failing to implement a judicial decision regarding the reinstatement of former Bishop Gevorg Saroyan.
