Rok 2027 Rokiem Św. Andrzeja Boboli i Rokiem Objawień Matki Bożej Gietrzwałdzkiej

The Archdiocese of Warmia has announced that 2027 will be observed as the Year of Saint Andrew Bobola and the Year of the Apparitions of the Mother of God of Gietrzwałd.

The resolution honors Saint Andrew Bobola, a preacher and missionary who founded the Marian Sodalities. It describes him as a defender of the Catholic faith and a patriot who earned the nicknames "soul catcher" and "Apostle of Polesie" due to his pastoral work and oratorical skills.

The year also commemorates the apparitions of the Mother of God of Gietrzwałd. The resolution notes that the Gietrzwałd movement helped preserve faith in a free nation and served as a foundation for regaining independence in 1918. The resolution states that the national consciousness awakened by the 1877 apparitions united Poles across different partitioned regions through shared pilgrimages.
