Sabato della settimana della III Domenica dopo il martirio di san Giovanni il Precursore

The Diocese of Milano has released the liturgical readings for the Saturday of the week following the third Sunday after the martyrdom of St. John the Baptist.

The readings include a passage from Dt 14, 22-29. The text instructs that a tithe must be taken from the annual harvest of grain, new wine, and oil, as well as the firstborn of large and small livestock, so that the people learn to fear the Lord. It also notes that if the journey to the place chosen by the Lord is too long, the tithes may be converted into money to purchase food for celebrations.
