Saetas y pétalos para la Fuensanta en la prisión de Campos del Río

The image of the Virgen de la Fuensanta visited the Murcia II Centro Penitenciario de Campos del Río as part of a second evangelizing mission marking the centenary of her canonical coronation.

Prison workers and inmates met the image in the courtyard, where it was carried on litters. The Grupo Folklórico Virgen de la Purísima and the Peña Huertana El Lugarico de El Palmar accompanied the procession. Inmates sang saetas and threw petals as the image passed, ending the visit with an encounter between the Virgen de la Fuensanta and the Virgen de la Merced, the patroness of penitentiary institutions.

The director of the center, Jesús Fernández Gil, expressed gratitude for the visit, stating that the presence of the Virgin is a source of hope for the inmates and the staff.
