San Alonso de Orozco, 19 de septiembre

The Church celebrates Saint Alonso de Orozco on September 19. Born in Oropesa, Spain, on October 17, 1500, he became a prominent preacher and apostle in 16th-century Madrid.

After studying in Talavera de la Reina and Toledo, where he served as a choir boy, de Orozco attended university in Salamanca. Although he initially intended to study law, he entered the convent of the hermits of San Agustín in 1523, receiving the habit from Saint Thomas of Villanueva. Following his ordination as a priest, he focused his ministry on preaching.
