San Gregorio Magno

The Archdiocese of Morelia notes that September 3 marks the feast day of St. Gregory the Great.

Born in Rome around the year 540 to an influential patrician family, Gregory initially served in public office and reached the position of city prefect. He later abandoned his political career to pursue spiritual life, distributing his wealth to the poor and converting his family palace on the monte Celio into a Benedictine monastery.
