San Matteo, apostolo ed evangelista

The Diocese of Milano has released the liturgical readings for the feast of St. Matthew, apostle and evangelist.

The readings include a passage from the letter of St. Paul to the Efesìni, where the apostle encourages believers to live in a manner worthy of their calling through humility, gentleness, and patience. Paul describes how Christ gave different gifts to people, such as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, to prepare the community for ministry and build up the body of Christ.

The liturgy also features Salmo 18, which describes how the heavens declare the glory of God and how his message spreads throughout the entire earth. The Gospel reading is taken from the Gospel according to Matteo.
