According to a tradition recorded by Blessed Jacopo da Varazze in his Legenda Aurea, Saint Michael the Archangel will kill the Antichrist at the site where Jesus performed a miracle. The text describes the Antichrist pretending to die and then using magic and demons to rise into the air to gain the worship of crowds. The Antichrist is said to eventually set up a tent and sit on a throne at the specific location where Christ ascended to heaven, at which point Saint Michael will arrive to defeat him.

The site currently belongs to the Islamic Waqf of Jerusalem, where Catholics can celebrate Mass only once a year. The Custody of the Holy Land notes that the location was previously part of a church that was later destroyed by Muslims.
