Scholas Occurrentes hosts AI conference

Scholas Occurrentes is hosting a three-day conference in Bali, Indonesia, to discuss artificial intelligence and human meaning. The pontifical educational foundation was founded by Pope Francis.

Msgr. Indunil Janakaratne Kankanamalage, secretary of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, spoke to participants about the role of technology. He stated that the goal is to ensure artificial intelligence serves as a tool for human flourishing rather than an instrument of domination. He added that the technology should strengthen human encounters instead of replacing them and act as a tool to help people search for light rather than a source of darkness.
