Seeking and providing help

Denise Seibert Townsend of Catholic Charities noted that individuals seeking assistance often struggle with the difficulty of asking for help or feel overwhelmed by previous setbacks. She observed that while many people want to support their neighbors, they frequently lack a clear way to do so.

Townsend suggested that opening oneself to the support of others can reveal new opportunities. She pointed to biblical examples, such as Jesus asking his disciples for help feeding crowds, to show that seeking assistance is not a sign of weakness.
