Seniorenhilfe SMMP saves over three tons of CO2

The Seniorenhilfe SMMP climate challenge saved more than three tons of CO2 through employee-led changes in daily work routines. The organization presented these results during a closing event where they also recognized successful ideas from the initiative.

The challenge grew out of a sustainability process intended to move beyond discussion and encourage staff to develop practical ways to reduce carbon emissions. Throughout the year, the program included information sessions and various sustainability events. Frank Pfeffer, managing director of Seniorenhilfe SMMP, welcomed guests to the event, while Stephan Schink, managing director of Servicedienste SMMP, noted that the Seniorenhilfe division was the first part of the organization to implement these reduction efforts broadly.

Three specific projects received top honors. The first place award went to a wet waste reduction project in Geseke. The second place went to training coordinators for their apprentice and practical instructor days focused on sustainability. The third place was awarded to a project in Heiden.
